Transdev Staff take on Irish Cancer Society Shave or Dye Challenge

Transdev Staff including Seamus Egan, Managing Director of Transdev Dublin Light Rail, and Eoin Colleran, Head of Safety took on the Shave or Dye Challenge over the weekend of Friday 19th - Sunday 21st March to raise funds and awareness for the Irish Cancer Society.

Colleagues from across the Company, including Security, Communications, Maintenance, Drivers, and Customer Assurance volunteered to shave or dye their hair or beards (and in some cases both) in a range of eye-catching colours in advance of the Irish Cancer Society's annual Daffodil Day, which takes place on Friday 26th March.

Seamus Egan, Managing Director of Transdev Dublin Light Rail, said of the Challenge:

"I am delighted to contribute to this year’s Daffodil Day by dying my hair. Cancer is so common and unfortunately most of us, including many of my own colleagues, friends, and family have been affected by it in some way...

I feel privileged to be in a position where dying my hair will bring awareness to Daffodil Day and help the Irish Cancer Society raise funds to continue providing their important services to those affected by cancer."

Like many charities, the Irish Cancer Society's fundraising activities have been impacted by COVID-19. Daffodil Day would usually their biggest fundraising event of the year and unfortunately for the second year in a row it has had to move online.

We have all been affected by cancer in some way or know someone who has had it, so colleagues were eager to come together to show their support and raise funds for this good cause.

Since our donation link went live on Monday 15th March, we have raised more than €6,500, with a further €5,000 to be donated by Transdev Dublin Light Rail on Daffodil Day.
